MONTESSORI PEDAGOGY
“I studied the boy. I took what the boy gave me and expressed them. That is the Montessori method.”
MARIA MONTESSORI
"Help me so I can do it on my own.” is the expression. Children are genetically programmed to have a say in their own development. Each child is an individual personality with a unique development. According to Montessori, the child needs freedom to reach his full physical, intellectual and emotional potential. But this freedom is one to be attained through order and self-discipline. The aim of the Montessori method is to help the child maximize his or her potential without difficulty.
Children in Montessori schools take full responsibility for everything from their lowest bodily functions to their highest mental functions. Given the freedom and support to question, explore, and connect, Montessori students grow up to be self-assured, enthusiastic and self-directed learners and citizens who are responsible for both themselves and society. They think critically, work collaboratively, and act courageously and honestly.
The method ensures that they are 'always on the path of joy and love'.
